Getting older residents online

Older west Sussex residents are gaining the skills and confidence to get online, thanks to training provided by Hyde Foundation and community interest company Petworth Vision.

Hyde Charitable Trust funded a pilot project to enable Petworth Vision to build a better understanding of Hyde residents’ needs and develop training to help them use Hyde’s digital customer services; to bank and shop online; and to stay in contact with friends and family.

One resident, Julie Martner took part in the pilot and said that, thanks to the training, she had been given the confidence to send an important email to her family in Australia.

National Lottery funding has been secured to deliver a further year of digital skills training, which Petworth Vision Campaign Manager Samantha Moore said would “give us more opportunity to grow and build on residents’ skills and confidence in using computers and filling out forms”.
