Fenland is set to benefit from a new 100% affordable housing development, which will help to tackle local housing need.
Clarion Housing Group has been granted full approval by Fenland District Council’s planning committee to build 40 new affordable homes on a site off Springfield Avenue, in the market town of March. Plans include eight homes for affordable rent and 32 for shared ownership. The scheme comprises four one bedroom flats, four two bedroom flats, plus 20 two bedroom and 12 three bedroom houses on the site.
The scheme has been boosted by £440,000 of grant funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Board.
Fiona Coulson, Head of New Business for Clarion (East), said: “There is an acute shortage of new affordable housing being built in the area. These 40 quality homes will help local people not able to buy a home on the open market.”
