Fishpool Drive, a development of 24, two-and three bedroom affordable homes and six one bedroom apartments in Stanground, is named in memory of a local woman who devoted her life to teaching children how to ride horses.
Peggy Fishpool used to run the stables on the land where the homes were built, by Countryside Properties for Medesham Homes, the joint venture partnership of Peterborough City Council and Cross Keys Homes.
Medesham Homes’ board member and CEO of Cross Keys Homes, Claire Higgins, said: “After hearing about all of the wonderful work Peggy did to help support her local community, this was the least we could do to honour her memory. We are committed to building affordable homes and these new homes on Fishpool Drive will help many families have a home they can truly afford and thrive in.”
Medesham Homes board members, local ward councillors and members of Peggy’s family and friends, alongside special guest Dolly - the 12-year-old pony which was the last to be housed in the former stables - revealed the new street name at a ceremony at the end of January 2020.
