Accent is providing homes within the Huntingdon District Council area on a development of 82 new affordable homes at St Mary’s Road, Ramsey.
Work has already started on site and is expected to complete in March 2023.
Accent has invested £19.8 million into the new homes and received grant funding of £4.663 million. To deliver the governments’ agenda to increase the supply of shared ownership and other affordable homes in England, the scheme will be part-funded by Homes England Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme (SOAHP).
When completed, the development will consist of 15 homes for affordable rent, 27 homes for social rent and 40 homes for shared ownership.
For planning permission, all homes will be required to meet M4(2) standards with the ground floor flats in each block being built to wheelchair adaptable standards. Inside, the homes will be modern with a high specification. The external appearance is based around the mill history of this area.
All homes will achieve an EPC ‘B’ rating. At design stage, the architect ensured all homes will comfortably exceed the minimum Part L1A. Wider cavities will allow for deeper wall, floor and ceiling insulation.
This will be a landmark development for Accent due to its high-quality design and prominent location.
St Mary’s Road is the main road running through the town. It is served by several local amenities, services, and retail outlets. Ramsey itself is located south-east of Peterborough, 9 miles north of Huntingdon and 64 miles north of London.
